What is the LPCC?
The Linwood Project Community Chorus is a women’s community chorus, with no requirements except a love of singing and an open heart. If you’ve been looking for a heartwarming and fulfilling singing experience, come give us a try! The chorus began as an offshoot from Cazadero Family Camp, by chorus singer at camp who wanted a 'year round' choral experience. We usually have 30-35 singers per session, ranging in age from 40-65, with a few younger and a few older as well. The goal is to simply get together and learn new songs to sing together, but we do perform occasionally.
Do I need to know how to read music to join this chorus?
Music reading skills are helpful but not required. You are required to make a commitment to the 10 week session you join, and you must be willing to learn the music and sing with an open heart. You will be given a cassette, each session, containing the music for your part for all the songs we will sing in that session. Additionally, you are encouraged to record every rehearsal, to help you remember the weekly details of songs.
What kind of music does the LPCC sing?
The LPCC doesn't claim any one style of music for their repertoire. On our CD, recorded in March 2007, we sang two arrangement of Holly Near songs, a few "traditional" choral works, a Macedonian folk song, a song in French, in Gaelic, in Hebrew, an original arrangement of a Betales' song, and jazz standards from the 1940's. Every 2-3 years we learn and perform a "Winter/Holiday" Show.
What will I learn as a member of this chorus?
